Emission spectrometry using an inductively coupled plasma.
An emission spectrum specific to an element can be obtained by introducing an atomized sample into an argon plasma and exciting the plasma. Elements contained in the sample can be determined and quantified by measuring the wavelength and intensity of the emission spectrum. Perkin Elmer Optima 7300DV is a multiple-type spectrometer and can measure multiple elements and wavelength at the same time. It can analyze more than 70 different elements at the same time. You can take emission spectrum measurements either in the radial direction, where measurements are less susceptible to ionization interferences, or in the axial direction, which is high-sensitivity and suitable for quantification of trace elements.
