本装置は、炭素および窒素の安定同位体比の精密な測定を可能にする。元素分析計(Isolink)を前処理装置として有機物を燃焼し、発生したCO2とN2を分離して質量分析計(DELTA V)に導入する。これによって、炭素および窒素の同位体比の測定を可能にする。なお、同位体添加実験(トレーサー実験)と自然同位体比測定の両方にシステムを用いる場合、添加したトレーサーからのコンタミネーションのリスクが大きい。そこで、元素分析計は2台質量分析計に接続しており、最も懸念される元素分析計内のキャリーオーバーを排除する。また、元素分析計は単独での使用も可能であり、その場合は炭素および窒素の量を定量する。 This machine is used for analysis of stable isotope of carbon and nitrogen. Samples are combusted by elemental analyzer (isolink), and CO2 and N2 are introduced to mass spectrometry (DELTA V). To avoide contamination from isotope enrichment experiment (tracer experiment), two elemental analyzers are prepared. It is possible to use elemental analyzer standalone to measure amounts of carbon and nitrogen. |
