When an external magnetic field is applied to a nuclear magnetic moment, the energy level splits into nuclear Zeeman levels. The resonance transition between energy levels caused by electromagnetic waves is called nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Nuclear magnetic resonance provides a variety of microscopic information on the environment of nuclei in a substance. Particularly, it provides a lot of information required to determine the structure of organic compounds. This is a 600 MHz (for 1H) high-resolution superconducting NMR spectrometer with an ultra-stable temperature controller. It allows measurements with the following different types of probe heads. ◯ 1H and hetero-atom probe (Z-gradient): 5mmf, 1H and 15N to 31P, -150 to +180℃ ◯ 1H and hetero-atom inverse probe (Z-gradient): 5mmf, 1H and 109Ag to 31P, -150 to +150℃ ◯ Hetero-atom low-frequency probe: 10 mmf, 44K to 39K, -130 to +150℃ ◯ Solid-state, high-resonance hetero-atom probe: 4mmf rotor, ca. 80 ml, 15N to 31P, -50 to +120℃ ◯ Probe for semi-solid applications (Z-gradient): 4 mmf rotor, ca. 12 ml, for 1H and 13C applications, -20 to +70℃ ◯ Triple-resonance inverse probe (XYZ-gradient): 5 mmf, 1H / 13C / 15N (31P), -50 to +80℃ (currently being prepared)
